Penguins and life

Not very often.... but sometimes I feel like this Mama Penguin--
 and then other times I love my title of Mom,
so much that I can't put it into words.

It has been a pretty good week at our house-- Getting back into a schedule is nice-- and Shane and Jessica really love school. They have been happy to do their homework!
I have been happy to tell them to DO their homework. :)

I saw my PT, and she was happy to tell me that I am making progress ! She is a mom of two also so she knows I do well with praise. She was nice enough to show me the Xrays... of my feet before-- she took her foot model out and showed me how-- both of my feet are different than the typical/normal foot. It was nice to know that all my foot issues are not just because I wore shoes that weren't foot-friendly.  I am still doing the exercises and they are still a ....chore-- but I really want to go walking and maybe eventually running-- so I am motivated to get better.

It is really great to see Shane interact with his current teacher, he is getting much better at being direct and polite.-- He came home the other day and was upset because he didn't get all his green points-- he was at one point trying to plead his case with his teacher, he was crying, whining, and yelling.
 His teacher stood strong against his shenanigans--- she let him know that his behavior was not going to gain any attention, or green points.  She even at one point just stepped over his body to deal with her other students.  I was very pleased that she was able to actively ignore him and not let what he was doing change what she needed to do.
When Shane got home we snuggled on the bed and talked about the day-- he ended up telling me about an incident at recess. -- Shane and a new friend of his were playing an imaginary game-- another boy wanted to play also-- but Shane and his friend wouldn't allow that. -- Shane made a bad choice and put his hands on the other little boy. No adults saw, but the friend that Shane had been playing with saw, and she told the teacher. Shane's teacher tried really hard to find out the whole story but  Shane was too mad at his friend, and the little boy would not say anything-- . When Shane finally go the whole story out-- I explained that if he had been seen by an adult he would of gotten a level 3-- and a trip to the principals office.  He was somewhat remorseful-- so I wrote out an apology letter and had him re-write what I had written on the lines I included on the page.  I also had a chance to tell his teacher the whole story-- she also thought it was a bit funny that he managed to tell on himself! :)
It's nice to know that Shane is willing to accept that his choices are not always the best and confess.

I also happened to run into Shane's kinder teacher-- and I had an odd interaction with her-- I usually say hello to her but that is about it-- I don't enjoy speaking with her, I think I am still bitter about how we were treated when Shane was a kinder-- but I try REALLY hard not to let that show. Anyway-- I stopped by to put money on the kids lunch tickets and  the teacher was getting ready to lead her kinders out and to their class--- she stood there and talked with me... IT was SO weird-- she was oblivious to the kids waiting VERY patiently in line-- she didn't even realize that I was trying not to add to the conversation. I am not sure what her motivation was--- our conversation wasn't really about anything more than grocery shopping-- and yet she just kept talking and asking questions.  I wonder if this is an olive branch ?

I have to get moving off of this computer and plan Shane's birthday party---
I hope I am able to make it easy and fun to attend without a ton of work.... :)
Because of Jerry's birthday, his work schedule and a memorial service I need to attend -- I have to plan Shane's party on a school night-- and with very short notice-- I hope I can make it work.

I also am now the PTO member that is in charge of our Scholastic Book Fair... I am pretty freaked out by that but I am hoping that with a TON of prayer... and a bunch of sucking up ... and treating others with honeyed words.... I can make it great?

Wish me luck!  I have a feeling that I'll need a seat belt or two to stay on this roller coaster ride I call life!

We survived a birthday Party ~

 We went to a birthday party-- and because we know this family rather well.. I was much less worried about how Shane's social skills would be perceived. Or maybe I was hot and tired ?   Instead of going and getting Shane out of the back bedroom to watch the birthday girl unwrap her presents, I let him play all by himself... it was much more relaxing for everyone.
The kids all got a turn to SWAK the pinata -- that was FUN to watch... both Jessica and Shane really have great and powerful swings!

This picture of Shane eating cake while rolling his eyes-- was because I wanted a picture of him with the hat on... he was BUSY eating and mom was being a PEST.
ah, well... That's my job isn't it?  The adults and some of the kids were handed out silly string--- we all went outside and had a silly string fight... GOOD TIMES! --

I do need to make a confession-- Shane's hair was getting really long... I kept saying that he had Justin Bieber hair.... (Shane is WAY better looking than Justin Bieber) ... but Shane's hair was getting so long that I couldn't see his eyes.   In the past we have taken him in to the hair salon and only one time have we had a good experience. So.... when I was at Walgreens' I found a Conair Hair Trimmer, (I was going to provide a link ...but I can't find it on the Conair site...weird!) it was really a small comb with a razor in the teeth...  I used it on Shane's hair and ... I was not skilled at the beginning-- so he has a few spots on the back of his head that look like I was under the influence when I cut his hair.    I wasn't .... but he was sure doing a TON of complaining... and crying and whining, and struggling...  I guess it was a mutual thing,... he wanted me to stop touching him and I wanted him to stop complaining and just deal.
I may of got his hair cut.... but I apologized for the spots I messed up.... once he took a shower he was fine and not mad at all...
That is why I pushed the picture taking with the hat on. :0) (This mommy almost always has a motive! )

The kids and I are really ready for a break from each other...
 In my honest...opinion~ Shane is being more of a pest
 to Jessica and she is doing her best to be ....a part of the problem.
Tuesday, is meet the teacher day-- and two of the teachers' have their birthday--
 then Wednesday is the first day of school! yahooo!!!!!
Since I have been laid up with my foot,  the kids have been doing some things in the kitchen without my help.... and now that I am more mobile...
 I am just a bit .... err unhappy with all the things they have been doing...
drinking the milk outta the carton--
making a mess with the straws--
not sitting still while drinking or eating...
 not asking before getting a snack.
I have a feeling... that SOON...I will be creating a  large household do's and don't list ---
do make Mommy happy by using your ears... ALL THE TIME
Don't DRINK THE MILK OUTTA THE CARTON!!!!!!

I was gone for a few days, and now I'm forty!

So, this week has been busy- Jessica to PDX for her check-up, me to the podiatrist for the "map pins" out-- and released to drive, my 40th birthday on the 1st,Then 1st time with a physical therapist, helping out at the school with the kids, grocery shopping with the kids, tomorrow a birthday party, then church and maybe a BBQ at a lake.

Emotions have been running high lately.... the weather has been warm and I have been alot less patient-- I have also found it tough to actively ignore bad attitudes. My feelings were a bit hurt- and although I kinda knew that would happen-- I was still saddened by the selfishness of other people.

It was  VERY nice to be released to drive, but then when I talked with my PT, she explained that I need to step up my game-- and start using my foot "for real" I have been really reluctant to put my foot to use.  So, now I am trying to follow her instructions and do my exercises every night and every morning, I am also using ice on my foot to help the swelling dissipate.

I am learning that I may be able to drive, but spending all day wandering around on my foot --isn't the best idea.

I am so glad that school starts next week, the kids have been so energetic,talkative, and just FULL of motion-- this Mommy.... needs a break!

Jessica seems to be changing her way of interacting with me, and I'm curious if she is just testing the waters-- or if she is really changing into a mouthy soon to be 10 year old. I am not ready to have such challenges with Jessica... I've got my hands full with Shane...     I may have to call for renforcements!

Getting rid of the yeah-buts

yeah, but...
Do you ever find yourself asking for advise from someone and then saying yeah... but--
I keep getting taught this lesson over and over again--
When we ask for advise, we need to listen with open ears,hearts and minds-- because if we don't then we end up with yeah, buts... and those do not make changes!

I know it's not easy to ask for advise-- and I know that sometimes the thought of other people/parents knowing that something isn't going smoothly is scary.
I really think that if WE want CHANGE,
then we have to be OPEN to hearing a new way of doing things.

I have found that if you ask a professional, or a skilled parent for advise, it won't come quickly-- that person will stop and think before speaking-- I think WE/I as the parent need to STOP, and LISTEN.  Maybe the advise isn't just right, but if you don't try what they suggest..... then the change you wish for ... will not come.

Maybe the lesson is to ask for advise, and be clear about what you wish/want the result to look like.
I think parents need to be flexible and willing,
 but that the kids need to have consistency and structure,
seems kinda like a conundrum to me.

By the way Thank you to all my commenters who give me advise...
I do appreciate each and every one of you--
even when I think in my head... yeah, but
 I have been TRYING to take your advise,  honest!   :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, back at the ranch... The kids, Jerry and I, invited some friends to meet us at the theater for a free movie-- because we got there a bit late--
 Jerry and Shane sat together and Jessica and I sat with our friends-- it was an interesting expirence... I didn't hear Shane's comments the whole movie... but I heard Jessica's laughter--
 I much perfered the laughter~~ maybe sitting apart at a movie theater is a good thing?
We saw Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs... we have seen if before but...it was still FUNNY!
I found that sitting on a blanket is nice, but that getting up (without hurting your foot and toes)-- requires a picnic table.
They were good until...dinner
Yesterday~  the kids played almost all day long together in the house, with very little fighting and really no crying, or whining -- I thought that I had won the mommy lottery!
 But, then... Daddy came home and he took us to get gas in the KIA and dinner at KFC...
(I don't think that the behavior that followed was because of Daddy... but instead that we were in the car, and thus being held hostage....)
Shane was SUPER talkative the whole ride... it was all about the cars around us-- look there's a ford, look there's a PT cruiser--- WOw does that car really have an awesome spoiler!
 Honestly, I am glad that he is taking an interest in the things around us.... but does he have to TELL me EVERYTHING he sees?  He is also very insistent that either Jerry or I reply to him,--
I have got to figure a way to stop this behavior --it's driving me nuts!
When we were at KFC, he was not doing a great job of staying seated while eating, I kept repeating the command, sit while you eat.-- But I think that I need to find a better way of dealing with his behavior-- My command/statement isn't working... I need to find a statement and maybe a consequence that will work. Maybe I need to go back and use a first, then statement-- Shane first you eat your dinner then you can ?  I don't have a clue what I am willing to "let" him do that would make both him and I happy.  hummm.... any suggestions?
Then, when it was time to walk out Shane was not paying attention to me at all-- it was like the lights were on but no one was home... I asked him to open the door for me-- but he didn't even seem to realize I was talking to him... I had my crutches with me and my purse-- so I really couldn't get down to his level to repeat my words...  hummmm...
I just got a call from a friend from high school...with an invite to a picnic get-to gether and I'd love to go... but I can't drive and Jerry is working so I had to say no... darn it... (If the gathering was closer I'd call and ask someone to drop, me and the kids off-- but since it is out of the way a bit-- I'd have to ask someone to be a chaperon for most of the afternoon!)
This foot had better serve me well when it's finally fixed, cause I am really tired of having to say no.... just because of my foot!
Yup, I got my boot!
So... I have my boot-- it's grey/silver and heavier than I had thought.
 I also have a gadget/tool to pump it up or deflate it --
I am happy to be a bit more mobile-- but I am also trying to really pay attention and not over do it...
 So, far I haven't had much pain and I would REALLY like to keep it that way!
The nurse pulled out a bunch of my stitches and a few of the times it really hurt-- I confess I yelped-- Shane was listening to the ipod and he commented/complained that I was too loud and annoying-- he asked if he could be in the hallway!  I apologized with sarcasm to Shane and said I would try not to be as loud.
I thought that I would be able to hobble to the park today so that the kids could play and have free lunch, but my hubby suggested that I stay home and not go out in the heat and then get stuck somewhere between here and the park. He doesn't normally suggest that I NOT do something-- so for today I am going to stay home and try to be creative here. Maybe we will do some messy crafts outside or make a obstacle course...
Nothing much going on here.
Yahoo, I didn't have to take the medication last night before bed-- when I take the meds I get really, really weird dreams, I seem to sleep well but I awake with such a weird feeling I only take the meds when I am having pain that is preventing me from sleeping.
So, far this week I have been moving around the house a little better-- I am really looking forward to Thursday-- I am supposed to get my own personal modified walking boot-. I was able to go up and down the stairs on Sunday -- that was nice. (In the past I have had to crawl up the stairs...not the most pretty or comfy idea)
Jerry took the kids to the local BMX track yesterday -- Shane had a marvelous time...Jessica had fun but not quite as much. Later in the evening, Jessica and Jerry went back to the track to watch the races they have-- Jessica was not that impressed.... Shane stayed home cause he wanted his 45minutes of computer time!
Shane has been without medication since the end of school and although we have had a few meltdowns-- they haven't been violent or destructive.  Although as happy as I am about all that I am still aware that we haven't been putting Shane in hugely challenging situations,-- last year we went very often to Free lunches at the park-- Shane really had to learn to stand in line and wait... We also went to the free family movies at the mall ... But since I am not super mobile-- and Jerry is not always motivated (to wake up and) to go places- we haven't done these things yet this summer.
a few things
Just a few short random thoughts...
using the power wheel chair at Walmart is not fun... people are rude and disrespectful
I got $10.00 for doing another quick Early Steps survey over the phone... I bet it will come in the mail in a check-- and since I can't drive... will my dear hubby take it to the bank for me... ???? and will he buy dinner with it???
Do they make left handed paper towels? My dear Jessica needs them... she is not so good at tearing off the paper towel
I love our wii... I love to see Shane's focus and determination to move the controller just so.
I wish I had a ramp out of my house... we have some stairs, and a quick turn -- so I am reluctant to leave the house -- wear myself out and then try to get back in the house.
Where is that magic wand... I am sure I have one....
My parents are stopping by tomorrow to check on me... awww geez.. my house anit clean-- I hope I can get my kids to be clean! :)
I am starting to get impatient -- I want my foot to heal so that I can walk, and exercise-- so that I can leave this house ... and give the kids some fun memories!
and now ... that's enough !
My Dr. Appt. caution ugly foot pictures included
Yesterday~ I had a moment of brilliance... I charged up my ipod and then when we went my Dr. appt. I let Shane listen-- Awww it was Joyful...simply joyful to have him calm and still-- --but notice he is on his tummy for good sensory input... his sandals are off so that he can feel free and he is focused!    So, much that when they called us --Jerry had to tap Shane on the shoulder quite a few times to get his shoes on and his body moving!
Here is Miss Jessica giving me some love and attention-- she is so loving with me..
And now..... if you are queasy or squirmy I suggest you not look below---
Jerry took pictures of my foot... and I figured that since they are already on FB.... having them on here wouldn't be any worse.
My foot does not FEEL like it looks.... it really doesn't hurt much... unless I bump it, or someone else bumps it.
So, the Dr. said my foot was extreme and that it was mobile in ways it shouldn't be--- so he shortened two of my toes, to help my foot/toes lay like they should ... he also worked alot to get my big toe back to where it should be-- this took more than one procedure.-- The Dr. assures me that this will be my last foot surgery ...!!!! Yahooo!  I will eventually have a useful foot.... not pretty or in a race to model-- but useful and after having this foot issue for many, many years ...
 I am very happily waiting for when,  I can have a foot that is useful and not painful.
Caution  UGLY foot pictures to follow:
I was supposed to get a walking boot, but the Dr will have to give that to me next time~  after he takes the boot home to modify it specially for me...
I am choosing to look at this,  as his way of making me my own  personal walking boot.
Just a rant about hair stylists that don't meet expectations!
So, I was having a hard time sleeping last night, I choose not to take my meds-- cause they give me really weird dreams.
I realized that I had not mentioned how VERY annoyed I was at the hair stylist place...
Dear Hairstylist ~
I get that it's hot and sunny and that you may not want to be at work.  I am really sorry if the mere sight of three more heads of hair makes you want to scream. But, honestly-- you are getting paid-- are you not??? Then just do your job.... WELL and you will receive your payment.
Sadly neither the stylist who cut my hair, or the one that worked with Jessica and Shane did not succeed in getting a tip, and  if I had not been in pain and in a hurry to come home and put the foot up -- then you would of gotten an earful!
Yes, my son has SPD and yes he can be twitchy and twirly... but if you take the time to STOP LISTEN and PAY ATTENTION-- you might realize that he is very well spoke and maybe YOU need to GET SOME SENSITIVITY!  The first thing that Jerry and I said when he sat Shane in your chair was NO CLIPPERS... how hard is that? --- How hard would it of been for the stylist to come and talk to me... the mom, on the crutches.   I could of done a better job of cutting his hair... and I should not be cutting hair... I have a picture of Jessica's bangs to prove why... I should not have scissors near my kids!
Instead .... this stylist.... wasn't cheerful, nice or friendly... if fact she was rather rude and VERY inflexible.   She didn't try to interact with Shane-- she just kept saying that she couldn't cut around his ears and the back of his neck without clippers?    I am STILL annoyed... I wanna go back and smack her.... geeez.
I get that Shane is a handful, but I also know from my years of working with the public that difficult people are part of the job, and if you learn to skillfully manage them... then your heart can grow.... three sizes too big!! (thanks, Dr Seuss..)
Even the stylist who trimmed Jessica's bangs... screwed that up-- and Jessica being the kind,loving heart did not request that the stylist come back to fix what she messed up.
Am I expecting too much? No,.I do not think so-- We have come in before and have had a decent experience,.... but this time-- I am not happy and I am seriously considering writing a complaint.--- to the store.
Thanks for listening... :)
I also need to say That~  I love my husband and my kids who have been trying really hard to take care of Mommy-- who is not good at bed rest or patience.... and these drugs do make me forget to say
Thank you for helping me... Thank you for fetching for me... Thank you for feeding me....
Miss Jessica learned how to make me coffee this morning... she also helped her brother have cereal without making a mess!
I am so very blessed!
Now to figure out how to wash my hair in the tub --- without banging my foot or drinking any soapy water!
Also... if you are curious about my foot issues... click on the words my foot below and read some...:) Maybe on Monday there will be pictures-- if they aren't too scary to look at.
New hair cut... and some other stuff
Shane... having some classic "boy,water play"
It has been really hot here-- and although my dear hubby installed the A/C unit-- I couldn't stand my hair and I had a good portion cut off!
I feel SOOOOOooooo much better-- My hair seems to have body and curl-- which is pretty darn amazing -- Usually I have flat thin hair...
Jessica got home from church camp on Friday, to find that her Betta fish Marina died... Shane was also angry that we had not done "anything" special for him while Jessica was at church camp. (We did have some really fun plans for him on Friday, but then Jerry had to work so that effectively ruined the plans for Shane.)
So, now we have two new Betta fish, one boy, one girl-- Jessica,Shane and I got our hair cut-- but Shane and Jessica's need some fixing.... I was in pain and not really able to go back and ask for the hairdresser to fix their hair-- so hopefully they will let me or one of my girlfriends fix their hair.
Tomorrow -- well.. Jerry is going to drive all of us to church ... and I am hoping that I will be able to handle being in the wheel chair --
On Monday we have two appointments, one for Jessica for her retainer, and one for me and my foot.... hopefully I will come home with a walking boot. Jerry says that even if I don't want to see-- he is going to take pictures of my gnarly foot.
Jessica,Jerry and Shane did bury Marina-- they said some nice words and then put her in the "swimming pool "garden" .... with a marker.   I was resting from getting my hair cut so I stayed in bed with  my foot up. Jessica orginially wanted to creamate her fish in the oven... Jerry talked her into buring Marina, Thank Gosh!
I have learned that my husband and my daughter are great at helping when they want to --- but sometimes they are annoyed that I call for help...       I can't WAIT to be independent again...  I can do some stuff  on my own-- but the crutches wear me out and our house is simply too small and messy for the wheelchair. They aren't being terribly un-helpful-- but let's just say there is ALWAYS room for improvement! :)
I am seriously considering going on an all liquid diet while I am still unable to walk-- and see how much, or if that will help me?
Doing well enough!
I just had to go online and read about all my friends on FB...
it's amazing(or weird,or wrong ) how much I use FB to know all about others... :)
Jerry drove up on the motorcycle to bring Jessica her necessities-(I was at home alone... errr with Shane) - he was almost there and then his gas tank sprung a leak ... he fixed it with come electricians' tape and a screw...    What is a good story about Jerry,  and his vehicles without a bit of drama...?
(he came home feed me and Shane and then promptly went on craigslist to "pre-shop" for a motorcycle.,... silly man, I know his motorcycle is old and in need of replacement, but my KIA ... is first to get an upgrade.)
Me neighbor Pam came to my rescue and washed my hair in her front yard... awww Joy!
Shane is doing well enough with out the medication-- he is willing to listen and follow directions as long as the TV,video or radio is off...  he even cooked me a chimmychanga... :)
I am learning how to use the crutches in our super small house, I am learning that the wheelchair is nice to use outside.
and now I need to go put up my foot... it's telling me to go and rest...
I am sure this post is rather odd and rambling... I blame the drugs...
:)
I'm doing fine...
I am still laid up -- so this post will be short--
We went to the dr yesterday, with Jerry, and the kids-- that in itself was exhausting-- trying to keep Shane from crashing into me or my foot-- and then to keep Shane from playing with the wheelchair-- let's just say I am SO glad the Dr. didn't take my blood pressure.
Jerry and  Jessica enjoyed looking at my foot-- me ...not so much-- I looked a bit and then hid behind a magazine!  Later today I am going to attempt to wash my hair in the tub without getting my foot wet or banging it on the tub... PLEASE wish me luck!
When they took off all the stuff on my foot it was much skinny-er than I have seen it-- it also had some lovely map pins in my toes and then also a metal bar-- just describing these things make me cringe... so I am really glad I didn't take pictures...  Heck ~ I even have my Dr's signature still on my foot...
So, if you wanna see what my foot used to look like hop over to  Feet and a Sweet.
I am doing fine,  however-- it is a challenge to keep asking for things instead of just getting them myself-- but crutches in our very small house with Shane... not VERy safe--
Jessica just left for 4 day overnight church camp... I miss her already! I know she will have a grand time-- but she is a superduper helper.  If fact I need to write her snail mail letter, and send it today! Hopefully she will get it before she leaves! :)
The camp just called and she left her medication, her glass case, her retainer case,her shampoo, and hairbrush! Jerry is calling now to see if he can drive up there to give her what she needs!  Ah, geez.
I hope you didn't get a virus from me
I just had to change my email password
 and then I received notification that my email sent out a virus... if you got it, I am so sorry.
On another topic my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 3pm....
 but I have to be waiting patiently at he hospital at 1pm...
 and I have to stop eating food at midnight...
I plan on chewing a ton of gum and trying not to watch the kids and Jerry eat in front of me!~
Shane is walking around the house singing his own verison of the twelve days of Christmas...
 it's nutty and wacky... yikes!
Thanks to friends on Facebook, I will be borrowing some crutches for  FREE! yahooo....
If you don't read any new posts for a while,
 please know that the drugs are keeping me kinda loopy :)
and I don't think that loopy and posting are a good combination!
The week ahead~
Sometimes I wish that Friday was a lot closer, but today I am a bit uneasy for Friday--
I am going to have my foot fixed on Friday~Then, on Saturday my husband is taking the kids to our church for his Uncles' funeral--I wish I would go and pay my respects, but I think I will be convalescing at my Aunt's-- I don't think I'll be ready to be out and about yet.
Today, I have plans to go to the library and stock up on some books.Yesterday, my neighbor Jessica played with Shane and my Jessica at a park across from the hospital while I had my SUPER long check in appointment for the surgery. I think the worse part of the appointment is when they told me how much they expected me to pay on Friday.... $2300.00!  I was so shocked.... nope... no one called to tell me this ahead of time.... and yup-- Jerry was very upset-- I text-ed him the amount at work and he immediately went to Human Resources to vent. I hope that today brings new,different answers !
So, we are 8 days into no medication for Shane... Things seems to be going okay-- While we were camping there were a few meltdowns-- but nothing that was really scary. So, I am feeling pretty good about taking him off the meds.
We used a combination of strategies to deal with meltdowns--
  • When all the kids were asked to move the wood pile~ Shane got real loud and complained that he "always has to do Everything... " I explained very clearly to Shane that this task was a have-to and that if he didn't start helping that he would have a consequence.  He reluctantly helped out-- I used some cross talk to help him do more-- (Shane look at Mandy, she's a girl and she has three pieces of wood! -- Hey, look at Little Tony he has a whole stack I bet you can do more than him!, let's try !)It also helped that all the parents and family members around were GREAT about heaping the praise on once Shane was following directions!
  • In the evening. Shane was getting very crashy-- he was on super fast speed and we decided that it was time for a break-- so Jerry and I worked together we took Shane to our tent, and told him he could snuggle under his heavy blanket and read, or he could go to sleep- Shane choose to read! He did poke his head out the tent a few times, but it was great to have him decompress somewhere safely and calmly!
  • The kids had all planned on learning how to be a Junior Ranger-- when it came time to go and hear the lesson-- Shane... threw a fit... :(   I took Shane off to the side and tried to explain to him, what was going to happen-- but Shane was past the reasoning point -- The decision was made to keep Shane at camp with me...  And although I like Shane to have to follow thru with things, this time avoidance worked for us! ... Shane and I ended up going on a "hike/walk" in the woods...
  • We also brought my ipod and that was SUCH a blessing -- I had put They Might Be Giants, Here Comes Science -- on it and for about an hour Shane was happily listening, calm and still! Joy!
While at the library today I got complemented on the kids... Jessica was sitting nicely in a chair, and Shane was on  the floor without his sandals-- about 8 books spread out around him happily laying on his tummy reading a book-- about motor cross!  These are the moments that I strive for ! yahooo!
Anyway... it's time to get dinner started !
Feet and a sweet
So- Barbara - since you asked-- :) Here is what my not so sexy feet look like-- My right foot is very mobile where it should be rigid so -- the Dr. said that I was born with feet that most likely would of needed repair-- I just happened to wait a LONG time to get my foot fixed!
and "me..." that's my best-est friend Patty who is really great with giving advice and counsel!Plus she is Super fun to hang out with...especially at karaoke!
While at the breakfast table this morning,Shane realized that were some cupcakes left over--
Shane "Yummy this cupcake is so good"~
Shane "You are my sweetheart cupcake dear~"
Shane "I was trying to demonstrate the two sweets"
Jessica in a very sage manner shook her head and said "Thanks, for the information Shane!"
Happy Sunny Friday to you!
I saw this car this morning and it was so lovely I had to take it's picture.
(The kids are watching the movie Cars as I type this out...:) }
I had a great conversation with the foot Dr. who just happened to be cute :)
It was nice to hear that my foot issues did start out at birth -- (inherited) !
Two of my toe bones are extra long which caused part of my issues.
I got to see Xrays of my feet-- It was really amazing to see just how different one foot looked from the other. My Dr informed me that my foot would be considered severe., and in order to repair my foot I would need surgery and I would "get" to have metal put in my foot!
I will be down anywhere between 2 and 4 weeks... now I just have to call back and see if there is an opening in July-- that's when Jerry says he can take time off and "care for me"--.
I have always had foot pain, I wonder how it will feel to eventually have little or no foot pain?
Ah, I think I will have some happy dreams tonight!
Shane had a good week at school, today was his IA's last day...
I wonder what next week will bring?
