Changing the negative to positive...

Yesterday was a tough day, I got a letter that I didn't enjoy reading, my son got in trouble at school and then I found out my Dad was in the hospital. Jerry the kids and I went out and looked at Christmas lights, I couldn't take any pictures, my camera needed new batteries.
I know better than to have coffee in the evening, and yet I did-- so I paid the price of my bad choice, by spending too much time awake and not enough asleep. This morning it was VERY pretty outside, a bit on the frosty side-- bummer that we don't have a garage so that I don't have to scrap ice...

In the spirit of the season,
I am going to take all these things and
look at them with Goodwill and Christmas Cheer...
  • the letter helped me to shed some tears, and also my dear husband was very supportive of me while I ranted, he really loves me for who I am, messy stuff and all! Ah, Joy!
  • Shane getting in trouble-- I convinced Shane to write an apology letter and he was willing to do that -- I spoke with the staff and although they were not happy about Shane's behavior's they have a plan of action.
  • I was sad to hear that my Dad was in the hospital, but happy that he was in the very best place to be,safe in the care of professionals.
  • Christmas lights without the camera-- geez I need to learn to plan ahead more often! I guess this means another trip to document all the great displays...
  • coffee in the evening-- well it tasted good!
  • It was pretty outside, there is a great spider web, but alas I have no new batteries to take a picture of it. Use your imagination!

This week I am in a bit of a holding pattern, I have things that I need to do, but the funding will not arrive till later this month-- I have most of my Christmas cards ready to go out, but I am waiting for $$ to buy postage, I have clothing and a quilt that needs some sewing -- but I need some supplies from the store.

I wonder if I write my list down that I can find a new way to look at it--

Now..Where are those rose colored glasses, I know they are around here somewhere!

Post #290, Just a bit of This and That

American Idol starts back tonight...
I am so super excited...
I bet I will be posting about it
-- check back and see-- and also
Rocks in my Dryer will be posting about it...

Yesterday was tough, Shane had a somewhat decent day at school, but when we went to Therapy-- he had to have about 3 time-outs and then we left early since he just wasn't willing to focus. Our therapist is also going to be taking time off in February to have her baby, and so we were trying to decide if we should take a break from therapy - or see if Shane would be willing to continue with a different therapist.
Then Jerry was working on the truck canopy, the kids were playing in the front yard, Shane threw a stick at a passing car, that just happened to be a Sheriff's car! The Sheriff, stopped his car and came to talk with Shane, Jerry tried to get Shane to focus-- Shane wouldn't even look up-- and then when Jerry and the kids came in the house Shane wouldn't talk to me-- He knows that when he makes a bad choice he needs to talk about it with Jerry and I. He ended up in his room on his bed for most of the night, I really don't know what is going on with him. This morning I had to put Shane's clothes on him, he had refused and I wasn't going to "let" him stay home--His class has a field trip today and I hope... and pray that things go well... When I dropped off Shane this morning I told the teacher in detail, that yesterday was really not a good day....
~ She called to say so far... he was just fine...

I have to wonder is, Shane being better behaved in class and now... just being a pill when he is not at school?

I have a bunch of pictures that I just need to share, of my sweet, sweet nephew-- and a few funny pictures that I took this weekend, however-
- I have to convince myself-- or my husband to switch the computers-- so that I can upload the pictures on the new computer that is still in the box, waiting for someone to plug it in.~

  • I am learning how to use my new cookware, and that is GREAT fun
  • I am learning that this new cell phone is super fun
  • I am also typing with "fake nails" and I had forgotten how nails change how I do some things...
  • I only just this weekend, drove in the truck, while using the cruise control(a first time for me)
  • On Wednesday,Shane and I have an appointment with the Developmental Pediatrician to see if she can help in ...."any way" with Shane's behaviors--
  • I also have the meeting to officially create the 504 plan.
  • I can't meet with the professional with the PhD until Friday.
  • I found out that if you put the batteries in my new camera backwards-- it works-- but if you put the batteries in the camera the way it shows-- it won't work! Huh?
Honestly ... I am just waiting to see if my head will explode !
check back to see what happens!

First days and such~

The First Days of kindergarten and 2nd grade~
*my camera didn't have good enough batteries-- so I was unable to get pictures of the kids...AGH! *

Jessica had her first day of 2nd grade yesterday and it sounds as though she and her teacher are a perfect fit... The teacher asked the kids to ask as many questions, as possible -- the tougher the better-
Jessica asked "What is the thickest book in the world?" The teacher replied that she thought either the dictionary or the Bible! This teacher seems really plugged in to my daughter and who she is as a person! Yippppeeeee!

Shane's first day of kindergarten--- Well, -
The teacher asked me to stay for the whole day --
I said , "Okay-" I figured that I could help out and also try to point out the cues that Shane will show when he starts to melt-down.--- However, I became the fix-it mom--
  • I helped the two sweet Hispanic girls finally STOP crying... I asked the girls if they went to church-- they said uh-huh--- in between sobs-- I said "Well, school is like church we learn about school stuff and later we go home to our Mommy and Daddy's" It took a while longer, but finally the girls stopped crying!
  • If you read the previous post about meet the teacher day-- you know how I helped a little boy out from under a table?-- Well, this same boy-- escaped from the classroom-- through the boy's bathroom -- out to the playground! I was the one who went and found the child, and brought him back... (finding this boy was so..."normal" for me... it seems I do this a lot with Shane}
  • I helped one the other boys' calm himself-- the teacher, the instructional assistant and I didn't know that there was NO RECESS for kinders on the first day of school... (HOW ANNOYING! ) anyway... I helped calm this little boy who was angry and frustrated-- I wanted to see the kids play outside myself...
There really are so many other things that happened that didn't sit well with me--
Of course, I have to realize that from EEP to public school was like going from an A+ to a D-

But, Shane seemed no worse for wear once we got home--
And --- more than one of the people (Patty,Laura,Elizabeth,Rochelle,Rick,Jerry)
I called to whine and complain to -- suggested that I just let him be--- I know that my son knows right from wrong and I know that he is a smart child--
So, I think for now I will just wait and see if this teacher is able to do -- what our taxes pay her for.
(Meanwhile, I am praying often and hard that the Spirit will help me be the force of change if need be, and that my tongue will only spout... helpful things! )

So, I guess this is day three of WIP~

Seeing,Hearing, and Smells to come!

I look outside and see...
the squirrels, digging more and more holes in my front lawn~
all the leaves that I had swept off of the sidewalk, back on the sidewalk~
the neighbors trying hard to keep the black walnuts that fall from staining their driveway~

As I surf the 'net I hear...
the kids asking for new batteries~
the kids talk about how they love to "camp-out" in Mommy and Daddy's bed, early Saturday mornings~
the coffee maker, creating that glorious eye opening liquid~ (coffee)

As I get the kids their breakfast,
the phone rings, with a request for dinner...
(I love to cook turkeys, and I have learned to make homemade noodles, so my dear husband wants homemade turkey noodle soup...)

I know I am not the best writer, which makes me sad,
but I do know that home-cooked meals that get eaten up the night they are served --
fills my heart that my work is GOOD!

(now, if I can find some batteries ... (for me and the camera...[hence the coffee!])
I plan to ~~ create the turkey noodle soup, and take some pictures!

Doesn't this post make you hungry? it does me!

What are your favorite seasonal foods?
