Venting

I have pretty much lost my voice today,

so I will vent here... is this forum...

(sounds like a line from the Peoples' Court! hehehe)

Recently, I went to Jessica's parent-teacher conference

I am sad to report that it didn't turn out like I had hoped...

I know my daughter is behind somewhat, she is very interested in many topics, but the basics of reading and writing, aren't what she wants to learn. She is however, making progress--

I invited the reading and speech teachers to be at our meeting, I thought it was best for ALL of us to be on the same page.-- I felt like I connected with both of these teachers, but I didn't feel like our classroom teacher even heard my comments.

This is such a challenge, to me-- I was often a teachers' pet in class- but Jessica doesn't seem interested in following that path, but it seems like my classroom teacher doesn't want to engage with me or my child!

I think back to all the parenting classes I have taken and the common theme was,

parenting your child is not about you, it's about them~

I can't be int he classroom helping out, since I have Shane at home with me~

I have offered to do things from home, but I guess that my help is not what she wants.

How, do I get the teacher to engage,

without beating her over the head with a rock---

Just kidding...

It is a greater work to educate a child, than to rule a State. William Ellery Channing

on another topic Jerry went fishing this morning

and this is a picture or two of his fish--- Pretty darn huge, if you ask me!

Sorry to hear about the teacher woes! I'm not a good one to ask about methods of engaging such folks... I tend to take the 'rock' approach : P
