Grocery Day

When I go out with my son on grocery day...
I get looks and frowns~
Being at the grocery store and staying close is tough for Shane, he doesn't enjoy being confined to the cart, and out of the cart isn't very pretty either!
Today while we were out, I made sure to feed Shane BEFORE we went thru the store and to do my best to keep him engaged all thru the store,while trying to remember to get all the things on my list, for the cheapest price possible!
I just checked and I did forget a few things~~~
BUT...
We got a compliment today! ---A very sweet older lady came over and shared that her husband and her had 3 boys, and that seeing Shane and I reminded her of those boys and how she was happy to only have had boys!-- Imagine that? LOL!
I commented that I have a daughter also, and she just looked at me and smiled~
What JOY! ---- Shane was even trying to imitate the mom and teacher on Charlie Brown, while we were bagging the groceries!

And now I am off to re-make my grocery list!

Blogs of others~

I like to surf the web, when I have time and when I don't have time~

Lately I have been looking to read
other peoples' blogs,(people who I haven't met in real life)
~ I like to read about other people--
it's like people watching at home!
(instead of watching people out ...in public!)

Some of the blogs I have come across are obnoxious, some are heartfelt, some are just shopping for attention, some have a message.

Mine, tends to be a bit messy and eclectic~ but I do hope that as this evolves, it may morph into a picture of what I mean when I say, Not for Profit, but for Joy! I don't even have a picture of that... in my head, but I do like to think that someone out there--will one day be interested in what I do manage to post~
I hope that people use a flexible ruler to see me and how I write about my life.

Still Sick

Jessica is still sick with the yuckies! --
but she really is so very sweet about it

Mommy, may I have some Gatorade ice cubes?

Mommy, can you get me a warm washcloth?

And Shane, he is being a good little brother, I even got him to pray to ask for Jessica to feel better!

I called the pediatrician, and talked with the nurse-- after I explained all the symptoms and what I was doing to combat them, she said I was on the right track! So, we are just trying to be patient and wait out this sickness!

At least I am saving gas, by not taking Jessica to and from school everyday!-- ha--

Can I just take a quick moment to complain?---
I really hate that we are at War, it makes me sad for so many reasons--all the lives lost,all the families apart. War affects everything, I wonder if our "Representatives" understand just how much this War is costing the everyday American?
If the war-torn countries all around the world got together I bet they might look back in hind-sight and say, we should of tried diplomacy!
coulda, woulda, shoulda, tried something ELSE!

It's costing this household too much money, from our gas bill to the grocery bill!
Please ....STOP the WAR!

Thanks for letting me vent!

breakfast was not one but two bowls of cereal !
--however...
Jessica is now feeling sick!

Jerry, is trying hard... to get in my good graces,
so he is attempting to make dinner with the kids helping him,
while I -- post this message... Hheheehehehehehee!

The date that, wasn't really~

The date, that wasn't~

We wanted to eat and see a movie, but we got a late start and then we realized that the movie was too long~

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is not in my opinion, a movie that is worth missing dinner for !

We did go back and eat at the Outback, but with the kids during the day--
Jessica had a great time, but Shane didn't much enjoy the restaurant,
[he isn't interested in eating lately~]
until he convinced Daddy to put money in the jukebox, I wish I would of had my camera!

This morning, Shane woke me up at 4:30am to tell me about his bad dream, something about how the police man didn't like what Shane was doing~~ and now, I have a nice neck/and back ache--- BTW, did I mention that Shane is off all week from school?
Good thing I went to the library and stocked up~! On videos,DVD's, and books

No coffee, Date with Jerry and a snowflake!

This week I ran out of coffee, so if the posts seem strange or a little off-- then you know why...!
*****people who know me well will say I'm ALWAYS strange or a little off!*****

I received directions on how to post my award,(thank you!!){you know who you R!}
but I have to visit a friend, to use her computer, since this one doesn't work very well...
so, in the future I will get the award posted...Stay Tuned!

I am excited that in January I will get to travel on an airplane for the ...very first time!
I will be traveling with my Mom,all the way to California, to visit my sister-in-law for the baby shower!

To-morrow Jessica has a play at school... I will take some photographs so that you can see just how cute she is as a ... Snowflake!
To-morrow night I also get to go on a ....DATE with my hubby to celebrate, our anniversary a few days early--- I think I'll take a picture of the food so that you can all read my post and be.... hungry and jealous! LOL!

I am asking for any and all flying advice for the first-timer!
Comments ...please?! thank you!

We go live to Findout More, on scene--

imagine if you will~
A reporter standing at the door-way to the bathroom, the camera looking over, the reporters' shoulder into the bathroom in question.The reporter looks very interested in the topic, it seems more information may just be over her shoulder.
"Hi, I am Findout More, here at the room of the damage, recently we received a report of damage done in this room, here at this house, and I, Findout More, am here to investigate this claim of damage for myself, and for you the viewer!"
As the camera attempts to view further into the bathroom, We hear a little boy's voice, "Well, I only used two wipes and two toilet papers... why is the water up so high???" "Mommy, Mommy there is a spider in the bathroom, get it, get it ... "
"Here spider, spider, I'll save you from all that water and send you to your...~ "
"Can you tell my why you used both wipes and toilet paper?, Is that what you are supposed to do?"
"Aren't you supposed to tell when the water in the toilet bowl gets to high?"
No film to follow; it was deemed inappropriate for G rated audiences, due to the execution of the arachnoid and the damage clean-up, We promise to keep Findout More on the case.
******************************************************************************
While watching tv last night Jessica saw a very short clip of the Jerry Springer show, where a large woman, was fighting with another large woman, her reaction was ---"Those ladies need to go to manners school!" and then "They need to learn about God and Jesus! "
A while back, I had to take away the toothpaste, since more toothpaste was ending up in the sink and on the counter, than in the mouth! Now I have to monitor the toothpaste,the toilet paper-- I already "control" the food and tv shows, not to mention brushing the hair, fixing the socks on up-side down and underwear backwards.
Is there anything that I don't need to oversee????????

Green Goo now, and Legionaires' back then

The other day, on Oprah, Dr.OZ...was talking about how to beat aging, and promoting his new book --
Every morning, Dr.Oz says he makes the green goo as a morning breakfast drink-- I didn't have the recipe, but I knew the ingredients-- this is what it looked like after I was done adding the, parsley,spinach leaves,cucumber, a lime,a lemon, and two apples-- I forgot later that I excluded the celery--
It was Jessica's idea to make the green goo, but after making it, she wasn't much interested in drinking it...I had a swallow or two, but it was ummm.... odd-- yeah that's how I descirbe it odd.
So, I gave it to my dear...dear... eat anything husband~ (yes, he really does eat almost ANYTHING~)[he has in the past, cooked a NUTRIA in the crock pot, he has, bought alligator at WINCO and shared it with the neighborhood teens,created new recipes for ramen noodles,that use as many ingredients in the cupboards.]
Today, my blender is empty of the green goo, Jerry never really said it was good or bad, he just drank it!
Maybe, if I had had some green goo back in Jan 2005~then I would of avoided the hospital!
Back in Jan 2005, Shane got real sick, when we took him in to Urgent Care, since it was the weekend,they admitted him with a diagnosis of pneumonia and dehydration. Jessica and I roomed in with Shane, since I wasn't willing to leave my child ALONE in the hospital. Three days after Shane was admitted I seemed to be getting sicker than my son, our pediatrician told me... to go get checked to see how sick I was!
I had my dear friend Patty come and stay with the kids while I went to Urgent Care-- they gave me a neubulizer and some meds, but on the way back to the hospital --- I puked-- YUCK! -- anyway... to skim over the other yucky stuff.. the next day they let Shane come home ...
That night I went to Urgent Care after the kids were in bed, I was having a hard time breathing-- they strapped me down almost the minute I got there and told me,
no I could not go home and have my husband drop me off at the hospital-- I had to take the ambulance--
So, to shorten up this story, I spent 4 days in the hospital with what they thought was Legionnaires'--- but mostly pneumonia; all my visitors has to wear masks, and I have to say I really didn't much enjoy being away from home, even if I was being taken care of ! I went home with an oxygen tank for a while, I even took the tank with me to church one Sunday, I nick-named the tank Mercy...!
The moral of the story? Maybe I should of had some green goo?, Maybe I should of taken better care of me, so that I could of seen just how sick Shane and I were...
The things you learn after the fact,
help to build the fabric of your life
that makes you stronger each day!
(I read a post about visits to the ER and such at In The Life of a Child, and I just wanted to share our most recent ! --- I am soooo glad it's been a while since we have needed high tech medical care!)

An award, and a goof!

When remodelling your blog, I guess you should test it first?

I changed some things on my blog,
inspired by some color changes that I saw at...
In the Life of a Child---
Then I found out this morning that I get an award....YYYYYYYYYYYIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEE

But... I think I goofed and I have to figure out how to put things back to right !
then I have to figure out how to display the award with due care and attention to detail!
Stay Tuned!

Edited to say...
I had to remove the banner that said This blog serves the LORD, --- because it wouldn't work how I needed it to... so untill I figure out how to put it back, know that it This Blog will still serve the LORD!!

Found, outside~

I found this branch outside today after some strong winds, -- yup that is my foot by the branch showing just how big the branch is...
Gotta love those black-walnut trees--
{I hate them, too messy and the black-walnuts stain EVERYTHING!}

[[Yes, I was still in my jammies, when I took this picture!]]

nuts and questions for today!

Why is a peanut a legume? check out this site.
http://www.peanut-institute.org/PeanutFAQs.html

We checked out a video at the library, called See How They Grow, Farm Animals

These are some of the questions....

People and cows are mammals, does that mean we graze all day?
Jessica asked "How does it feel to be a milked, if you were a cow?"
Mom answered, "Well, when you are big and grown up, and you have your own kids, when they nurse you might understand!"
Shane said, "If I had a pet lamb, I would be sure to give it milk every day...!"
Why do lambs have long tails when they are little?
I found the answer at http://www.lambtown.com/ A lamb is born with a long tail that can drag in the dirt and manure. Because the shepherd wants to keep the lamb healthy and clean, he "docks" or shortens the tail. This is done in one of two ways. Sometimes a special rubber-band is placed around the tail. This cuts off the blood supply to the tail and causes the tail to fall off in 7 to 10 days. A shepherd can also use a special pair of electric scissors. They are very hot, like a curling iron, and when the shepherd makes the cut, the heat of the scissors stops the bleeding instantly. This is called "cauterization." A lamb's tail is soft and made of cartilage, so removing the tail doesn't hurt much. Take your thumb and finger and pinch the top part of your ear or the tip of your nose. These are made of cartilage, same as a lamb's tail.

Since I like to keep the topics interesting...

I am now letting the kids watch E.T. ---

I can't wait to hear the questions !

A day off?--yeah, whatever!

Did you know that Bambi's girl-friend's name was, Faline?

Since our family, hunts Bambi...there is some dark humor here,Jessica thinks hunting is COOL, but I don't think she really understands the reality~
Jerry, thinks that Bambi is wrong and that I should not let Jessica ever see the movie--yada yada yada...
ah, well...
Both the kids have the day off from school, so I bet I will be attempting to answer some difficult questions later today....

STAY TUNED! -- maybe you can help me answer some!

I figured the gloves out!!!!!

Yipppppppppeeeeeeeeeee

YYYYYYYYYYiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiipppppppppppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

with the "help" of my dear, husband...

I figured out how to put STARS on the black satin gloves!

I took a Mylar balloon, and I cut a ...bunch of stars out of the Mylar, I used simple clear tape on the front and the back to give the Mylar some stiffness. But, I had yet to figure out how to attach the Mylar star to the gloves, enter my husband..."Well,why don't you just use this, black, double sided carpet tape?"

Well... it worked, and so now all I have to do is figure out how to creatively shorten the fingers in one of the pairs of gloves~
(this will be intresting,[sarcasm...] since the each finger is rather tailored...)
Well, looking on the bright side,
I have till--- Christmas! (well a few weeks before, anyway!)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
=============================================================
I wish there was a font that you could read and think sarcasm, Or a color that was camo, now that would be cool!
Today, while at church, our children's minister, asked me to start work on another project... details on that to follow!
I think....it's nice to be needed?!

Veteran's Day

Thank you to all the Veteran's, past and present~

May your service to our country be ever
remembered
and may you know that your trials have helped others!

I look at my son,
I see the whites of his eyes,
I see the blue of his eyes,
I see the red of his lips-

Venting

I have pretty much lost my voice today,

so I will vent here... is this forum...

(sounds like a line from the Peoples' Court! hehehe)

Recently, I went to Jessica's parent-teacher conference

I am sad to report that it didn't turn out like I had hoped...

I know my daughter is behind somewhat, she is very interested in many topics, but the basics of reading and writing, aren't what she wants to learn. She is however, making progress--

I invited the reading and speech teachers to be at our meeting, I thought it was best for ALL of us to be on the same page.-- I felt like I connected with both of these teachers, but I didn't feel like our classroom teacher even heard my comments.

This is such a challenge, to me-- I was often a teachers' pet in class- but Jessica doesn't seem interested in following that path, but it seems like my classroom teacher doesn't want to engage with me or my child!

I think back to all the parenting classes I have taken and the common theme was,

parenting your child is not about you, it's about them~

I can't be int he classroom helping out, since I have Shane at home with me~

I have offered to do things from home, but I guess that my help is not what she wants.

How, do I get the teacher to engage,

without beating her over the head with a rock---

Just kidding...

It is a greater work to educate a child, than to rule a State. William Ellery Channing

Teaching is not a lost art, but the regard for it is a lost tradition. Jacques Barzun

on another topic Jerry went fishing this morning

and this is a picture or two of his fish--- Pretty darn huge, if you ask me!

Isn't Sharing..Nice?

Shane, was nice enough to share his sickness with his mom, and sister!{hidden sarcasm!}
It's not really bad, but it does slow us down some!--
We got some pre-mixed cookie dough from Shane's school, and I made up some of the cookies.
This is a picture of what Jessica didn't eat-- GEEZ!
I wonder if it was the cookies,or the sickness?!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On another topic~
I really {hate}dislike~ Lifetouch pictures!
Last year, Jessica's kinder pictures were so bad we did re-takes, the re-takes weren't the best---
This year, we ordered the smallest package, and WOW!
I am so glad I didn't spend a bunch on bad pictures! (I am going to ask someone, with a scanner to scan the pic's into the computer so that everyone can see them--) Jerry thinks I am being a perfectionist-- but then I am the mom, isn't that my job????
Jessica loves to smile, but it seems every picture that Lifetouch takes of Jessica, she doesn't smile all the way -- like she is afraid that her brain will be sucked out when she smiles... I may not like all of Walmarts' business deals, but they take nice pictures for cheap! Walmart ~ Here we come!
Sick day
My dear son ... is sick ---
I knew this was coming on, but I was praying that it would just disappear! ha..ha!
I am not in charge!..God is~great
I am not in charge!..God is~all-knowing
I am not in charge!..God is~loving
So, far it is only a head cold that seems to be in his chest,
but my mommies' heart just hurts when I hear him cough.
although...looking on the bright side...???
He sneezed during a breakfast of sugar free-strawberry jam on pumpkin pie--
and ... it was a very nice... ummm.... specimen! LOL!
Hopefully I will continue to have a ..."bright" outlook on this topic today!
And the voices in my head, start laughing hysterically!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
On another note...yesterday Shane was full of things to tell me... [sarcasm ahead...]
---
"Mommy, do you want to lose weight?"

"Yes, I would like that--why?"

"Well, if you lose weight then you will no longer be in charge, and Daddy will be ~~I like Daddy being in charge, he lets me do what I want ... That's cause, he's cool!"

"So, if I'm not....fat... then I can't be in charge?"

"You have to be big, like a giant to be in charge!"

I might just have to look into shrinking my kids,
and myself so that I can always,...BE in charge!
Heaven, only knows what would happen if
Daddy was in charge, that is the stuff of night mares! AGH!
{I say this only in the most loving way... Jerry likes to eat chocolate,to spend the day watching video's or playing video games,has eaten a ...Nutria..REALLY!--}
Let's just say that Daddy is good at being who he is...(don't say red-neck is a ..bad thing!)
But , Mommy is better at being... the Mom in Charge! {when do I get my pay-raise?}

How skinny is my daughter?

VERY!

This morning, while getting Jessica ready for school,

I went out and started the car, to warm it up--

I got Shane all snuggled in socks and super-big-warm camo pants...

I took him out and strapped him in his car seat, ~

I went back in the house to check on Jessica, and after helping her to brush her hair, she seemed ready to go...

*snort...*

while walking out to get in the car, Jessica was complaining about how her pants kept falling down! --I noticed that she was wearing a pair of pants that I want rid of~

We got all the way to the car, and almost had the seatbelt on when

Jessica, said, "Mommy, I forgot to put on underwear!" (snort, snort...)

I am still laughing....Jessica is so skinny that her pants, that are made from jean like material, but have some lycra in them wouldn't stay up without the underwear to help them....!

I know I shouldn't laugh at my child...but it was so very funny!

At least from a mom's point of view~! [ I called Jerry and told him the game of the day was , how skinny is our daughter?-- He answered, "How skinny...?" -- I said, "So, skinny that when she forgot her underwear, her pants fell down!"-- more laughing..]

Salmon,Sarcasm,and Stars

My dear husband...is many things
Recently, he went fishing and caught some salmon, he filleted up the salmon, soaked it a homemade salmon brine, and then smoked it on the bbq-er. This is a picture of him cooking the salmon with the kids "helping...." Shane set his chair down and then was up wandering around the yard, then he came back to the chair picked it up moved it and then sat down, at the same moment his sister attempted to sit down in the chair...instead she ended up on the ground...I wish I could of gotten that picture!

Jerry took the kids and I to eat out for lunch,
and while the kids were...taking forever to eat, I took this picture of him...

And, he claims to be the head of the household! ---AGH! (sarcasm)

[I really do love him... honest,!]

After we were done eating he took us home,
and .... he let me leave him ALL ALONE with the kids!!!!
---- WWOWW! This doesn't happen very often ~

I was on a mission for church,
I have been asked to find a shiny,glittery, star
and put it on the palm of a black satin glove,
I went to
...Hirons, Walmart, Joann's, Rite Aid,
Michael's, Ben Franklin, Big Lots, The Dollar Store...
I am DONE! ---- I was very nice to be alone to go to all these places,
but none had what I needed
I am taking suggestions...!
I need to keep the cost down,
and they need to be fairly easy to create,
I have 7 pairs to do
They will be worn during a Christmas program, where the 4th and 5th grader girls will be dancing--so they need to be flexible, but stunning!
I thought about paper,or glitter glue, fabric paint ~I even thought about creating my own applique, but none of those ideas seem to be quick and stunning.I need these to look nicely done, and most of my creations are usually --not -perfect!
